Tower Engineering Inc. provided HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection engineering services for the Sewickley Academy Means Gym & Alumni Center. This project consisted of a new NCAA-sized basketball court that can seat over 800 people, locker room, and weight room. This project achieved LEED Silver certification for its green design features.

The HVAC design included rooftop gas heat units, CO2 sensors, and a high efficiency condensing gas hot water heating plant with variable speed pumping. Energy recovery was utilized to minimize heating and cooling losses and reduce the energy consumed.

The electrical design included a new underground utility service, 3 phase switchboard, and diesel generator. A new voice fire alarm system was installed as well as telecommunications cabling and exterior lighting.

The plumbing and fire protection design included a domestic gas water heater with storage in the mechanical room, manual and battery-powered automatic faucets and flushvalves for the water closets, urinals, lavatories, showers, and sinks, and elevator sump pumps. Water efficient fixtures were utilized to help achieve LEED certification. A traditional wet fire protections system was installed.
