McKnight Elementary School | Tower Engineering, Inc.

Tower Engineering, Inc. provided HVAC, Electrical, Technology, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering services for the North Allegheny School District McKnight Elementary School addition and full building renovation. This project consisted of new art
rooms, updated classrooms, media center, gym, cafeteria and basic infrastructure upgrades.

The building’s HVAC system design included 4-pipe vertical and horizontal unit ventilator, fan-coils, variable refrigerant flow, CO2 sensors, DDC controls, a kitchen hood and residential splits. A gas hot water heating plant was installed along with an air-cooled chiller cooling plant – both with glycol.

The electrical design included theatrical lighting, exterior lighting, new AV systems including emergency notification system, clock system, classroom AV, cafeteria AV, gym AV and the LGI space. Security surveillance with card access and telecommunications cabling was also installed.

The plumbing design included central domestic water heater, infrared battery faucets and flushvalves, manual grease interceptor outside kitchen area, solids interceptor in art rooms and elevator sump pumps.
